Default More Killzone 2 DLC - Flash & Thunder

Two retro maps 'Beachhead' and Southern Crossing' get the HD remake (and move to Helghan)

check it out - http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/excl...under-map-pack

Blows my plans of taking a break to catch up on some other games, back to fighting the trenches with my Helghast buddies

Really enjoyed my quick time with the new maps last night, Beachhead though quite small is really quite well designed and the battle for the middle gound was intense but real fun.

Southern Crossing was a bit different, I kept getting nuked until I realised you need to get indoors and hide from the blast. Set up on multiple levels but with equal amounts of indoor stairs and corridors and outside open areas it looks like it could be a blast..

Roll on the weekend and some real time to get to grips with the new surroundings!

I found "Beach Head" a really difficult location to gain the new Trophies, especially if playing as the Helghast (as the ISA faction have an advantage with the upper ground & more building cover).

This location is better suited to 8 versus 8 player matches. Anything more & the whole game descends into a frag-fest. Fun, but annoying, as you do not make any substantial progress before having to respawn.

The "Southern Hills" location is by far the best location of the two, I think (from my three to four hour online gaming yesterday evening/early this morning).

And yes, the "nuke wave" catches everybody out at least once!

I'm still favouring "Salamun Market" & "Blood Gracht" from the original "Killzone 2" Warzone multi-player locations.

Since I gained the new Trophies in the "Steel & Titanium" Map Pack I have not played them again. I wasn't overly impressed with either the "Wasteland Bullet" or "Vekta Cruiser" locations. Well, enough to play them for a few hours, but I have never had the urge to return.

Do you have any location favourites?

BFN,

fp.

Thumbs up diggin in the trenches

I agree with Beachhead being a complete fragfest when in a 32 player game and though M4 revolver and spot'n'mark allowed me to outsnipe the snipers it was all a bit chaotic. I played a 16 player 8vs8 game after that, that was much much better paced and allowed for some 'tactical' play rather than 'frag or be fragged'.

I will pass judgement on Southern Hills once I've played it a bit more.

Titan & Steel - I hate the 'Wasteland Bullet' stage and have only enjoyed a few games on that map (one with yourself springs to mind!), visually impressive but all too thin IMO and as someone who likes to attack from the opposite side to the rest of my team I find it hard to get into a flow on that map.

In complete contrast Vekta Cruiser has fast become one of my favourite maps, though it can feel confined its 2 floor left, middle or centre gameplay allows various routes around and it never really descends into a fragfest (well unless its S&D with 32 players when its inevitable!). My flatmate and I regularly run riot on Vekta holding down one side or the other for long periods and when in trouble there are always options to approach any battle from another direction despite its smaller size. Vekta Cruiser was worth the price of the pack on its own (luckily!)

Of the original maps I'm a big fan of Blood Gracht again because of its multi-level gameplay and it seems really well designed for Warzone games, S&D and C&H are alot of fun on Blood Gracht.

I love Salamun Market too due to its slightly larger size and being able to move around and play more tactically, it copes with 32 people quite well and there are lots of 'spots' to lurk and kill strays before they notice you, lots of hidden routes to climb upto elevated positions I know you like SM too!

If I'm after a quick killfest I often join the kids on Radec and Tharsis for a while to warm up for a longer tactical battle on one of the larger maps.

I have had some brilliant battles on Corinth Crossing though the quality of games there varies by game/team its a peach of a map when played properly.

I'm not such a fan of PR due to its size and snipefest-iness and Visari Hammer is hit or miss IMO though I have had good games on both. Helghan Industries would probably fall into the hit'n'miss category as well.

if i were to rank them it would probably be something like this-

Blood Gracht
Vekta Cruiser
Radec (until they boosted the airbots!)
Salumun Market
Corinth Crossing
Tharsis
all the others

Wasteland Bullet

Flash n Thunder to be decided when I've got my head round them

----------

ps - Did you get my (psn) message about Uncharted 2 fp?
