Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) has proudly announced today that the "Need for Speed™" franchise sales have exceeded 100 million units [generating 2.78 billion US dollars] (according to their own internal data) making the series the best-selling racing brand in the gaming world.

Frank Gibeau, president of EA Games Label, in response to this news has said, "Few videogame franchises ever reach the 100M units mark, so this is a huge honor.
