So i just noticed it, but what is reputation used for if anything and how does the system work? can you lose rep if someone didn't like your post or can you only go up?

The rep should be just like kh-3 rep. It's way easy that way.

Rep is just fun. It lets you see if people like you or not. To raise someone else's rep I believe you go find one of their posts and there will be a little +/- symbol there, click on it and then you can choose if you like em or not and add a message as to why.

Yeah you can give good or bad rep, and as pyro has said, people hand it out when they like your post, or like a thread you wrote. You generally hand it out when you feel the person offered something good to the conversation, forum or thread...

The one thing I don't like about the rep system is that it is too easily abused

Rep is a good way to show if they made a good effort out of there posts..Most of the time though it gets abused, and I hope they does not happened here. If so then they prolly have to take it down but so far I see nothing going wrong and i hope it stays that way.

Well one of the ways to manage rep is like only let people leave negative once they hit a certain level... i.e. initially only staff can leave negative rep but everyone can leave positive... and maybe as the site matures, certain higher posting well respected members also get the ability to give negative rep..

All systems can get abused i guess, it just depends on the people on the site.

i think that the method you have given would work very well, it keeps the immature posters from destroying someones rep just because they dont like them

I really hate rep systems on forums.
On another forum I had been a member for only a few days (about 3) and I don't no what people had against me but my rep had turned red which mean that lots of people had given me negatitive I left that forum a few days later after this.
