Xbox 360 Elite price drop (28 August 2009)
GAME(Station)/(Play) are to sell the Xbox 360 "Elite" from tomorrow, Friday 28 August 2009, at the newly reduced (and Microsoft Recommended Retail) price of GBP 199.99 (down from the current price of GBP 239.99).
The "Pro" ("Premium" 60Gb) model that was offered for GBP 159.99 is to be discontinued & the "Arcade" model will become the entry level hardware for the console at the same price (of GBP 159.99). The "Arcade" model will not be available with any bundled software titles though (such as the current pack that includes "Sega Superstars Tennis").
The newly priced "Elite" bundle will include a choice of two titles from the selection of "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare", "Tiger Woods 10", "Grand Theft Auto IV", &/or "Fight Night Round 4" (replacing the existing offer that includes "Gears of War 2" & "Halo Wars").
The new "Elite" pricing is set to coincide with the release of the new "PS3 Slim" model on 1 September 2009 that will have a "high street" price of GPB 249.99 (although bundle deals & reduced prices can be found at a variety of online e-tailers including those under the GamePlay parent Company).
The Wii console is still the cheapest of the three home video entertainment systems available in this current (seventh) generation of video games consoles, remaining at GBP 179.99 including the bundled title “Wii Sports”.
Expect the run-up to the festive season to get uncharacteristically hot this year…
BFN,
fp.
