Naturally, the ESRB concludes that parents just don’t quite understand exactly what the ratings mean.brbrTo remedy this, new rating summaries, which provide exclusive and unprecedented insight into the nature of the content that triggered a given rating assignment, will be added in addition to the existing ratings info. The summaries will be searchable via their website.brbrIf you detect an undertone of sarcasm in this article, I do apologize. It’s easy for me to criticize the ESRB for a making a plan that will obviously not prevent parents from spoiling their kids rotten. Irresponsible parents will still be irresponsible parents and I suppose there’s really not much else the ESRB can do about that. At least this way, people will have one less excuse when their kids steal a car span style=font-style: italic;GTA/span-style.brbrWith the Christmas season around the corner and game sales expected to skyrocket, I guess every little bit helps.brbrPS. No, I’d rather not get into the argument on whether or not violent games will cause little kids to rampage the streets, guns blazing. If you must know, I’m actually in the that’s hogwash camp, but I also recognize that I’m no psychologist, hence I tend to listen to the game’s rating on the box unless I know better.brbrhr style=width: 100 ; height: 2px;brspan style=font-weight: bold;Related Articles/span:brullia title=Jack Thompson is back, criticizes ESRB over Fallout 3 trailer pullout href=http://www.qj.net/Jack-Thompson-is-back-criticizes-ESRB-over-Fallout-3-trailer-pullout/pg/49/aid/125618span style=font-style: italic;Jack Thompson is back, criticizes ESRB over Fallout 3 trailer pullout/span/a/lilispan style=font-style: italic;a title=Four big names on four gaming issues: sex, violence, content ratings, and gaming design href=http://www.qj.net/Four-big-names-on-four-gaming-issues-sex-violence-content-ratings-and-gaming-design/pg/49/aid/125373Four big names on four gaming issues: sex, violence, content ratings, and gaming design/abr/span/li/ulbrbr pa href=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~a/qj/xbox?a=qxmbunimg src=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~a/qj/xbox?i=qxmbun border=0/img/a/pimg src=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/qj/xbox/~4/451148130 height=1 width=1/ a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=’http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/qj/xbox/~3/451148130/126152 ‘Source [qj.xbox]/abr

It’s a commonly accepted phenomenon that span style=font-style: italic;Guitar Hero/span and games like it have a habit of inspiring gamers to take up the real thing.brbrI’ve been known to pluck unconvincingly on my brother’s guitar after successfully conquering Cliffs of Dover on Expert so I know this trend firsthand. I’m sure you people who’ve tried the game have similar experiences.brbrIt seems the music instrument distribution industry has finally caught wind to this and is using it to its advantage. Active Music Distribution and a href=http://xbox360.qj.net/tags/activision-blizzard/14851 id=tag title=result of merge between Activision and Vivendi GamesActivision Blizzard/a entered an agreement that will see span style=font-style: italic;Guitar Her/span sold in musical instrument stores across the a href=http://xbox360.qj.net/tags/uk/4320 id=tag title=United KingdomUK/a. Took them long enough. I’ve had teenagers suggest this idea to me.brbrThe obvious benefit for the music stores is that they can net those who are either too intimidated or apathetic to bother learning a conventional instrument and weening them on the videogame version first. In theory, this will get them interested to try the real thing… that’s when the sell you their regular stock.brbrActivision Blizzard’s Lee Worsely mentions in his statement concerning the partnership agreement:brbrp style=padding-left: 40px; padding-right: 40px;By offering incentives with purchases of span style=font-style: italic;Guitar Hero/span, such as a free lesson or a discount on their first instrument purchase, stores can keep these customers. Gamers would welcome in-game ad exposure for cheaper games
November 7, 2008
brA study conducted by a href=http://xbox360.qj.net/tags/frank-n–magid-associates/13861 id=tag title=analyst firmFrank N. Magid Associates/a found that gamers are willing to welcome in-game ad exposure in exchange for price cuts in games. We’ve already seen a lot of these in games, especially sportswear in titles such as span style=font-style: italic;NBA Live/span.brbrGamers were found to be receptive to the idea. After all, 60 bucks take a lot of wind from your gaming sails. In fact, only 20 said that they would be less likely to purchase a game at half the price but with more ads. 31 said it won’t make a difference. 15 said they’d be much more likely to do so, while 28 said they’d be somewhat likely.brbrEven more gamers showed favor for the idea if the games were free, but bombarded with ads. 29 were much more likely and 24 were somewhat likely. Again, quite a large group (25 ) said it won’t matter, and only 15 said it would make purchases less likely.brbrp style=text-align: center;a href=http://img.qj.net/uploads/articles_module/125945/FNM 20chart1_qjgenth.jpg?880962 rel=lightbox[article125945] title=Charts 20from 20Frank 20N. 20Magid 20Associates 2C 20Inc. 20- 20Image 201 20 26nbsp 3B 20 20 26nbsp 3B 20 3Ca 20href 3D 22http 3A//img.qj.net/uploads/articles_module/125945/FNM 20chart1.jpg 3F880962 22 20target 3D 22_blank 22 3E 3Cimg 20src 3D 22/img/newwindow.png 22 20title 3D 22Open 20in 20new 20window 22 20border 3D 220 22 3E 3C/a 3Eimg style=margin: 3px; alt=Charts from Frank N. EA clarifies forums ban, says forums and games access are separate

Each forum, game and service is managed independently by customer support representatives responsible for that specific forum, game or service./pbrJust like span style=font-style: italic;Spore/span’s issue earlier this year, users were threatened to be banned from the game if they discussed controversial a href=http://xbox360.qj.net/tags/drm/596 id=tag title=Any technology used to protect the interests of owners of content and services (such as copyright owners).DRM/a’s title news on its official forums.nbsp; So now it is not all that bad because we learned something and that is to work on communication skills to avoid misunderstandings.brbrhr style=width: 100 ; height: 2px;br style=font-weight: bold;span style=font-weight: bold;Related articles:/spanbrul style=font-style: italic;lia title=EA submits second info request from FTC about Take-Two acquisition href=http://www.qj.net/EA-submits-second-info-request-from-FTC-about-Take-Two-acquisition/pg/49/aid/118394EA submits second info request from FTC about Take-Two acquisition/a/lilia title=EA acquisition of BioWare and Pandemic completed href=http://www.qj.net/EA-acquisition-of-BioWare-and-Pandemic-completed/pg/49/aid/111166EA acquisition of BioWare and Pandemic completed/a/li/ulbr style=font-style: italic;brbr pa href=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~a/qj/xbox?a=BGZELtimg src=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~a/qj/xbox?i=BGZELt border=0/img/a/pimg src=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/qj/xbox/~4/437720771 height=1 width=1/ a target=_blank rel=nofollow href=’http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/qj/xbox/~3/437720771/125663 ‘Source [qj.xbox]/abr
